Over my almost 20 years in the sign industry, I have seen a lot of bad signs! The three most common mistakes that make a bad sign are: too much information, incorrect font or lack of contrast in mood / color choices.

Signs are not business cards, make the information concise and readable. Choose fonts that match the message; thin fonts don't say GRAND OPENING! and crazy fonts don't send the right message for an accounting firm. Even with the right message and right font, you must make sure that your color choices work together and provide enough contrast and the correct message. You would never use red and yellow for a bank sign, or black for a fast food restaurant!

So remember, concise information, proper font and match the color contrast and mood to the message. Or, simply work with Penny's Posies and Such - Sign and Graphics and we will do all the hard work for you.

GETTING READY FOR THE HOLIDAYS

The holiday season is just around the corner, how does your business or organization prepare? Do you have Christmas promotions, do you sell or make Halloween costumes, are you a pumpkin farmer who wants to get the word out that this year is a bumper crop? Are signs a part of your preparation? Do you need new graphics for your storefront windows, signs at the end of a lane to direct customers to your fields, promotional banners advertising a sale?

Effective signage is one of the most cost-efficient methods of directing, informing and educating your potential clients. A well-designed, well-placed sign works 24 hours per day, doesn't call in sick, needs no health insurance, and always says exactly what you want it too. You can rest easy knowing that your message is always presented exactly as you desire. Now, if we could just teach signs to bake cookies, they would be the perfect holiday accessory.

INTRODUCTION OF NEW SIGN COMPANY IN EDGEFIELD COUNTY

I am pleased to introduce you to the second part or our new company in Trenton, Penny’s Posies and Such – Signs & Graphics. For the last 17 years I was the owner of 2 large sign companies in NE Ohio. I have returned to my hometown of Trenton and I am excited to bring my experience in the industry back home to Edgefield county.

My wife, Penny, and I have over 25 years’ experience in the Sign and Graphic industry. Over these years we have worked with Fortune 100 companies, major universities, major medical facilities and many other high-demand clients. During this same time we made banners for the local church bake sale, window decals for the local high school, yard signs for local events and even some signs for politicians.

What can we do for you locally? We can bring you nationwide experience with small town pricing. We can offer insight and guidance to provide you with the best visual solution for your situation. We can save you a trip to Augusta, allowing you more time to spend working on your own organization. We can provide you with a sign solution from someone who grew up here, loves it here and knows that he will probably run into you at supper at least once a month so your sign better be right!

When you have been doing this as long as I have, there’s probably not much I haven’t seen or done in the industry.  If you have an idea that you would like to get out, a vehicle that you are not sure how to letter, people having a hard time finding you, etc., reach out to us and we can find a solution.

Time For a Change?

The new year is here, and you have made your resolution to take your business to the next level in 2019. A new attitude, a new, strong business plan, a new website, new computers; you are ready to take on the world. Did you look at your sign when you walked into the office this morning? Does it project the image of your organization that you want it to, or does it simply hang there like this one?

It doesn't matter if you are a non-profit, a professional office, a manufacturing company or a church, it is highly probable that the first impression a new client will have of your organization is your sign. If your sign is damaged, aged, or simply poorly designed, it will have a negative impact on your future success.

Add to your business plan a review of your sign every 3-5 years. What is its physical condition? Does it still "look" like my organization? Has any information changed since it was installed? Is it time for a change? Over the long-term of any organization, sign expense is usually a very small line item. It is worth the time and money to make sure you keep your sign fresh and representative of your organization's current image.
